Biography

Clinton Ruckel was born on November 14, 1840 in Columbia County, Pennsylvania.[1] He was the son of Johann Ruckle and Hannah Creveling.

He served as Private in Union Army in Co. H, 104 Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Civil War.[2]

He married twice.

He married Frances "Fannie" Agusta Hart (1844-1908) on November 10, 1869 in Summit County, Ohio.[3] They had 2 children.

  1. John Clinton Ruckel (1873-1902)[4]
  2. Lurana "Laura" A Ruckel (1878-1883)[4][5]

They started out married live in the John C. Hart home in Middlebury, Summit County, Ohio.[6]

They made their home in Akron, Summit County, Ohio in 1880, where Clilnton worked as a Potter, with wife Fannie, son John-6, and Lurana-1 in the home.[4]

His son John Clinton passed away on April 4, 1902, in Akron, Ohio, at the age of 28.

His wife Frances Augusta passed away in 1908 at the age of 64. They had been married 39 years.

He married Mary F (Labb) Latimer (1860-1954) on November 13, 1909 in Summit County Ohio.[7]

At age 69, Clinton, now a retired farmer, and Mary lived in Akron Ward 3, Summit County, Ohio in 1910,[8]

He passed away on March 20, 1911,[9] at the age of 70, in Akron, Summit County, Ohio. Both buried in Glendale cemetery, Akron.[1]
