Pernie V. Rugh, 78, of Franklin RD 3, a retired employee of Oilwell Division of U.S. Steel Corporation in Oil City and a World War I veteran, died shortly after noon Wednesday at the Fitzgerald residence on Sage Run Road, Oil City. He had been in failing health for some time.
A son of William and Olive Slater Rugh, he was bom in Oil City December 29, 1894, and spent his early life in Oil City. He had lived his entire life in the Oil City-Franklin area. He worked for several years as a carpenter and was employed at Oilwell for 23 years, retiring in 1959. Mr. Rugh served with the U.S. Army in World War I from April 3 1918, to March 21, 1919.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Three brothers and a sister are deceased.
Friends will be received after 7 p.m. today at the Frank S. Huff Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Huff Chapel with Rev. Rodney F. Bargerstock, pastor of the Fox Street Church of God, officiating. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Oil City.
