Charles Rumbold was born on August 11, 1788, and died on May 31, 1857. He was the son of Thomas Rumbold and Joanna Law.
Educated at Oriel College, Oxford University in 1806, and Trinity College, Cambridge University, from 1808 to 1810, he went on a Grand Tour from 1812 to 1813.
He was a Member of Parliament, representing Great Yarmouth as a Whig, from 1818 to 1835, from 1837 to 1845, and from 1848 to 1857. He supported borough and criminal reform.
