Ellen Rumney (married name Ibbott) was born around 1821 in Essex, England, United Kingdom, daughter of Elizabeth (Potts) Rumney and William Rumney.

She was christened in Essex on 11 November 1821.^[1]

She married John Thomas Ibbott on 20 December 1864 in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.^[2][3] Their children were:^{[citation needed]}

• Henric Thomas Ibbott (1867 - 1947)
• Lillian Ibbott (1868 - 1869).
