In 1839 the family went to New South Wales as bounty immigrants via the ship Portland, arriving 7 February, 1840. Ebenezer gave his age as 39, and Jane was recorded as 36. Also on board were Agnes (9), Janet (6), Isabella (6), Jane (2) and Marion who was born at sea.[1] They were pioneers of the Illawarra district of NSW and held the Croome Estate between Albion Park and Jamberoo, where the Russells' original homestead and farm buildings still stand. [2]
She died in 1871, and was buried in the Jamberoo Presbyterian Cemetery.[3][4]
