Biography

Harriet Rust was born August 8, 1795, in Fauquier County, Virginia, daughter of Samuel and Mary Lee (Bailey) Rust. Harriet was the wife of Reverend Thomas Ezra Hensley, son of William Hensley and Elizabeth (Appleberry) Hensley.

Harriet and four children floated with her husband in a homemade keel boat, until it sank. They lived a year in the wilderness before another boat could be built and they continued on to Missouri. She would become the mother of nine children before she died April 18, 1876, in Montgomery City, Missouri.^[1]
