Walter was born and was then christened on 29 Mar 1818 at St John, Hackney and was the son of Henry Rutherford and Sarah.[1][2]
In 1841 Walter was living in Hackney with Sarah aged 25 and David H Rutherford (7 months). This actually looks like a large extended family but I find the record hard to read.
Walter Rutherford 25
Sarah 23 or 25
David H 70 (maybe?)
Henry Rutherford 50
Sarah 50
Sarah 20
Thomas 16 (Gardener?)
Henry(?) 10
George 8
Caroline 5[3][4]
In 1871 Walter was an accountant visiting 133 Garlands Road, Reigate[5]
