Biography

Ellen M. "Nellie" Ryan was born 24 Aug 1877 in Vermont, daughter of Patrick Ryan and Emily Brown. She died 7 Jul 1970 in Goffstown, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, while living at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home, Caron Building. She was a patient there along with her sisters Emma Ryan and Addie (Ryan) Manning.

Family lore says that she was born in Canada, however, later documents show Vermont. She never married. She worked most of her life as a cook for affluent families of Manchester NH. In the 1960s she and her elderly sisters Emma and Myrtle lived in the Blessed Sacrament Church area on Trahan Street in "the project."
