Thomas was the fourth born son of Thomas Ryan Esq. and his wife Margaret Godfrey.
He married at an unknown date, Bridget Hanly, and they had one known child, James Godfrey Ryan, who was born about 1817 in Ashbrook townland, Lissonuffy parish.
On January 1, 1812 his father transferred Ashbrook to “Thomas Ryan the Younger of Carrowna Keley in the county of Galway, Gent.” and “Godfrey Ryan of the City of Dublin, Gent. Atty @ Law”. Subject to the 1811 mortgage of £585.1.0 with “Lawfull interest” due to their brother “William Ryan of Ashbrook…Gent.”.[1]
On October 20, 1821, “Godfrey Ryan of Rutland street…..Dublin, Gentleman” and “William Ryan of Ashbrook….Esquire” conveyed all of their interest in the Ashbrook estate to their father Thomas Ryan, in consideration of five shillings respectively. The deed noted “Thomas Ryan the younger” was dead. Witnesses to this deed were “James Ryan of New Holland in the county of Dublin, Esquire” and “James Knaggs of Rutland street….Dublin, writing clerk”.[2]
He died about 1818 as he is is listed in the indexes of wills. Unfortunately the original doesn’t survive, having been destroyed in the infamous 1922 fire.[3]
