Biography

William C. "Bill" Sabel, 70, passed away on Monday, 30 December 2019 at the Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.,

He was born in Brothertown, Calumet, Wisconsin on 13 October 1949, a son of Clemens Sabel, 1914-1990 and Sylena M. "Sally" (Gelling) Sabel, 1916-2001.

He married Betty J. Reinl on 5 September 1970. They were blessed with three children.

Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Army who had served in combat in Vietnam with the Triple Deuce (B Company, 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 25th Division) as a private first class. His military medals included the Purple Heart; Bronze Star for Valor and the American Defense Medal. He often reflected how honored he had been to serve his country.

Mr. Sabel was a man of many talents and interests including: carpentering; outdoor activities such as hunting; fishing; gardening; feeding birds; and indoor pastimes like enjoying military movies; westerns; and Brewers; Bucks; Badgers; and Packers games.

He was survived by: his wife, Betty, b. 1951; children, Scott (Brenda) Sabel; Steve (Lisa) Sabel; Michael Sabel; grandchildren, Alexa Sabel; Madison Sabel; BriAnn Sabel; Brevin Sabel; brother, Ronald (Joan) Sabel; Betty's parents, Ronald (Dolores) Reinl; sisters-in-law, Pat (Dave) Wettstein; Judy (Rich) Lodes; Joanne (Greg) Murphy; Kathy (Stan) Schmitz; Mary (Richard) Dreifuerst; brothers-in-law, Ron (Kim) Reinl; Jim (Sue) Reinl; Joe (Kathi) Reinl; and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by: his parents; an infant sister, Carol Rose Sabel, 1947-1947 and a niece, Katie Wettstein.

A funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, 5 January 2020 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home, 411 West Main Street in Chilton, Calumet, Wisconsin. The remains were cremated. Disposition of the remains are unknown. The findagrave memorial ID is 207487060.
