Biography

John Saggerson (or Sagerson) was born in about 1796 in Prescot, Lancashire.

John married Ann Davies on 16 Nov 1818 at Rainford Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot. Both were of the local parish, and neither had been married before. John was a watchmaker. The witnesses were Elizabeth Davies and John Surman.

By June 6th 1841, the family were living in Yew Tree Place, Eccleston. John was a watch maker. The two eldest sons, Robert and Edward, were apprentice watchmakers.

By March 30th 1851, they were still in Eccleston. John was a master watch wheel maker.

By April 7th 1861, they were living at Archr Cottage Beer House in Yew Tree Place, Eccleston. So they may have been running a beer house, but John was still a watch wheel cutter, and his one son still at home, 17-year-old James, was a watch maker.

Ann died in 1865, aged 66.

John died in about the first quarter of 1871, aged 75.
