Ross served in the Army during WW II. He was wounded during the war. He started his recuperation in an English hospital. He was then sent to Fort Billings Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He met his wife, Imajene Denton, testing battery cells at P.R. Mattery where batteries were made for U.S. Army walkie talkies. Ross died in an automobile accident in 1967. He was 62 years old.
