Lucy I Sanders was born on April 23, 1891 in Houston, Texas, United States, daughter of William R. Sanders (1853–1928) and Lucy Ada Martin (1859–~1900).[1]

In 1900, Lucy (9) was in the household of her father, William, in Justice Precinct 4 (east part), Houston, Texas. [2]

Lucy (18) married Benjamin Wilson Bitner (25) (born on May 20, 1884 in Houston; son of William D. Bitner and Susan (Crowson) Bitner) on August 29, 1909 in Houston County, Texas.[3] Their children were:
