Biography

Elizabeth was born about 1702. The Pollock Bible contains this entry:

Thomas Pollock son to Thomas Pollock Son to Thomas Pollock of Balgra above mentioned was Married to Elisabeth Sanderson Daughter to Coll'n Richard Sanderson of Pasquotank ye 12th day of February being Thursday 1729/30^[1]

(Will Abstract) Nicholas Crisp. March 22, 1726–7; proved May 23, 1727; grand son Richard Crisp, daughter in law Elizabeth Crisp, granddaughter Mary Durant, granddaughter Sarah Durant, Elizabeth Crisp, widow of my son John lately deceased, grandson George Durant, grand daughters Ann and Elizabeth Durant, children of my daughter Hagar; Edward Moseley and Jeremiah Vail executors. Witnesses, Wm. Williams, Humphrey Robinson , James Bush .

NOTE. - Captain Nicholas Crisp first appears in Chowan Precinct about 1692. He was selected as one of the Vestrymen of St. Paul's Parish, at its organization in 1701. Was a church warden for a number of years, treasurer of the parish, member of the court, and one of the first commissioners of Queen Anne's Town, afterwards Edenton. His name appears to many of the deeds for the first lots sold. He was a merchant, and did business at lot No. 12. old plan of the town, He had but two children. His wife was Miss — Wilkins, sister of Charles Wilkins. John Crisp married Elizabeth Sanderson, daughter of Richard Sanderson of Little River, Perquimans County. The marriage took place July 25, 1725. The issue of this marriage was one son, Richard Crisp, who died before reaching manhood. Mrs. Elizabeth Crisp married second Thomas Pollock, son of Governor Thomas Pollock; issue Thomas and Cullen Pollock. Mrs. Elizabeth Pollock married third Samuel Scolley; no issue. Her last husband was from Boston, but lived and died in Berlie County, N.C. Hagar Crisp married George Durant, son of John Durant and his wife Sarah Jooke, (John Durant was the son of George Durant the elder). There were five children by this marriage: Mary married Christian Reed, her twin sister Sarah married Joseph Blount: Elizabeth married first Joseph Reed, second Thomas Jacocks; Ann married Thomas Corprew, George died in his youth. The two twin sisters. Mary Reed and Sarah Blount, sleep in the Blount- Littlejohn graveyard, on Cheshire's Hill, in the town of Edenton, N.C.
