Biography

Ann was born in Spaldington, Yorkshire, England, and was baptised nearby in Bubwith in 1823. She was the daughter of George Sanderson and his wife Maria.^[1]

At the time of the 1851 census Ann worked as a domestic servant for the Dunn family in Reedness, Yorkshire.^[2]

In 1856 she married Henry Spence in Howden, Yorkshire.^[3] The family lived in Yokefleet, Yorkshire,^[4] before moving to Blacktoft, Yorkshire.^[5][6] Henry died in 1882 at the age of 54.^[7] In 1891 Ann lived alone in Blacktoft.^[8]

She died in 1897 at the age of 74.^[9]
