James Satterfield, abt. 1776-1859, m. Eliz Trotter
He came to North Carolina around 1750 with his brother's William and James along with father-in-law William Jay. Jay received a land grant of 350 acres which he immediately sold and deeded 50 acres to John and James.
John established an Ordinary with Robert Paine (Payne) which later became known as Paine's Tavern.[5] John also received a land grant of 150 acres from Lord Carteret Earl of Granville on January 9, 1761 and settled near Richland Creek, west of Roxboro, in a part of Orange county, now Person County, North Carolina.[6][7] The 1790 US Census places John Satterfield in Caswell, North Carolina.[8]
John passed away in 1802 and is buried at the John Satterfield Cemetery which is located on their farm near the Antioch Church in Roxboro, Person County, North Carolina.[1][9]
His son John Jr., purchased his father's home and took care of his mother until her death.
