Biography

Madeline Satterwhite b. 20 April 1900, AL d. 15 Oct 1985, SC m. John Oliver Williams b. 3 Aug 1897, AL d. 27 March 1940, SC, buried in Fairfax, AL.

Madeline is mentioned in her daughter's Obit: Mary Lou Hughes, 79, of 3985 Atlanta Highway, died Saturday, April 17, 1999. A native of Ora, S.C., Mrs. Hughes was the daughter of the late John Oliver and Madeline Satterwhite Williams. She was a co-manager of Storage Trust in Athens and a member of the Cleveland Road Baptist Church. She was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Medical Corps. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Laurens, S.C., with the Rev. Barry Davis officiating. Survivors include her husband, William H. Hughes of Athens; daughter, Betty Lou Hughes of Gracewood; son, Bill Hughes of Dallas, Tex.; and a brother, John O. Williams of Columbia, S.C.
