Frances Elizabeth Satterwhite was born 1 October 1806 in Abbeville County, South Carolina, to Drury Satterwhite and Nancy Pettypool Drury Satterwhite.
In 1817, SC, John A. Griffin was appointed her guardian.
She married William Leonidis Gary on 1 November 1824, in Stony Point, South Carolina. They had four children: Dr Thomas Pickens Gary, Newton E Gary, Ann Eliza Gary, and Frances Rebecca "Fannie" Gary.
In 1860, Frances appeared alone on the US Census in Macon County, Alabama, living next door to her youngest daughter. [1]
She died, at the age of 81, on April 4, 1888 in Tuskegee, Alabama. She is buried at the Tuskegee City Cemetery, Tuskegee, Macon County, Alabama.[2]
