Biography

Jabez was born 10 March 1832 in the Bahamas, probably in Spanish Wells, Eleuthera.[1] He was the son of Richard Thomas Sawyer and Margaret Roberts.

Jabez Sawyer married first Lephronia Curry on 21 September 1852 in Key West, Monroe County, Florida, in a ceremony performed by John W. Mills, M.G.[2] Lephronia apparently died shortly after giving birth to their daughter Lephronia in November 1854.

He married second Alecia Ann Russell circa 1860, probably in Key West.[3] Jabez and Alecia apparently divorced in the second half of 1900 or early 1901.

Jabez married Affie (Russell) (Thompson) Van Delden as his third wife on 6 June 1901 in Key West in a ceremony performed by B. B. Whalton, County Judge.[4]

He died on 23 December 1904 in Key West,[5] and he is buried in the City Cemetery.[6]
