Biography

Phillip was born in 1897. He was the son of Johannes Schlittenhardt.

The 1920 census shows Phillip Schlitenhart, age 23, living alone in Emmons, North Dakota, United States. His birthplace is given as Odessa Russia, with a 1907 immigration date.^[1] In the census his is recorded as living next door to the household of his father, John Schlistenhart, and family.

In the 1940 census, Phillip Schlittenhardt, age 42, lived in McCulley Township, Emmons, North Dakota, United States with his wife Emma, five children and a cousin, John Kiemele, age 60.^[2]

In the 1950 census, he was in Bismarck, Burleigh, North Dakota, United States with his wife Emma and seven children. also present was a son-in-law and two grandchildren.^[3]

He passed away in 1983.^[4]

The obituary for their son, George Schlittenhardt (February 16, 1934 - March 18, 2019) gives his parents as Philip and Emma (Taxis) Schlittenhardt. The obituary states he was the fourth of seven children and was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Alyce (2012), his daughter Vicky Olson (1996), his sisters Ella Skager and Elma Miller and brother Herman.^[5]
