Mary Elizabeth Schooling was born on November 14, 1843, in Edgar, Illinois, United States, daughter of Robert Harrison Schooling (1813–1896) and Susannah Ireland (1816–1881). [1] She moved with her family to Adams County, Iowa before 1856. [2]

Mary (20) married Lewis Daniel Thomas (24) (born on May 16, 1839, in Virginia, United States) on April 7, 1864, in Adams, Iowa, United States. [3] [4] Their children were:

Five years after Lewis' death, Mary (29) married James Nathaniel Fisher (23) (born on January 29, 1849, in Monroe, Illinois, United States) on January 12, 1873, in Carbon, Adams, Iowa. [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] Their children were:

  1. James Homer Fisher (1874–1951)
  2. George A Fisher (1879–~1933)
  3. Joseph Leonard Fisher (1885–1960)

Mary died on November 25, 1927, in Adams, Iowa, United States, aged 84. [10] She is buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, Mount Etna, Iowa. [11]
