Biography
Caroline Schotte was born on October 22, 1846[1], in Petersburg, St. Clair, Illinois, to Hermann Heinrich[1] and Charlotte Wilhelmine (Schnier) Schotte (also spelled Schodde)[2]. She married Frederick Gausmann in 1869[3][4] and they had one daughter[5] and one son[6] together. Frederick died (see Find A Grave: Memorial #140836983) while their daughter was just a toddler and their son an infant. Carolina remarried[1][7][8], and much later died on October 18, 1936, in East Marion, Illinois, at the age of 89[1].
