Gottfried was born 7 Feb 1820 the son of Jacob and Christina Schönnagel and was baptized 13 Feb 1820 at Löblau, West Preussen.[1] He married Florentine Koschnick (Koffnich) at Danzig 3 Oct 1847.[2] He immigrated in 1861 first arriving in Quebec, then Detroit, Michigan, and in 1864 to a farm near Dawn, Missouri.[3] Florentine passed away in July 1869 and in 1870 he married Caroline Belier.[3] He passed away 18 Jun 1891 at Livingston, Missouri and is interred at the Collar Cemetery, two miles south and 1/4 mile west of Dawn, Missouri.[4]
