↑ Source: #S240 Page: David Smart. Data: Text: It was great to hear from you, and yes it is the same family. Your David and my g grandmother Janet Scott must be brother and sister. What I have on Andrew Scott is b 2 Sep 1821 in St Andrews, Fife. He married Ann Mackie, no date yet. In the 1861 census of Auchterderran, Fife (405/1/3), he is age 41 and living with his wife Ann age 52 and their son David age 11 (is that is your relative?). The family lived at a hamlet named Newbigging in Auchterderran, Fife and he worked as a labourer at the coal works. David was at school. Ann's father Robert Mackie was 80 and lived in the house next door. The next info I have is the 1891 census of Auchterderran, (405/2/14), where Andrew age 70 is living in the hamlet of Whitehall in Fife, with his daughter Janet. He was a widower by this time, and despite his age was still working as a colliery engineman. He was still living with this family in 1901 (405/1/5), and was now retired age 78? He died on 12 Jan 1903 at Craigs Cottage, Auchterderran. His death was registered by his son-in-law, William Raeburn who is my G Grandfather. Unfortunately, and unusually there is no details of his parents given on his death certificate.
