Ruey was born in 1893. He was the son of Harvey Scott and Rose Walker. He passed away in 1956.

OBITUARY

RUEY LESTER SCOTT

Ruey Lester Scott, son of Harvey W. and Rosa B. Scott, was born August 6, 1893 in Wright Township, Wayne County, Iowa, and passed away July 23, 1956 at the Wayne County Hospital at the age of 62 years, 11 months and 17 days.

On December 23, 1914 he was united in marriage to Oma Cecil Gordon. One daughter, Kathleen Ford of Russell, and two sons, D. Gordon Scott of Ankeny, Iowa and H. Paul Scott of Benedict, Minnesota, were born to this happy union.

He leaves to mourn his passing his widow, three children, six grandchildren, Marilyn, Judy and Gary Ford, Linda Scott, Steven and Susan Scott, two daughters-in-law, Dorothy Scott and Gladys Scott, and one son-in-law, Ivan Ford. Also three sisters, Beulah and Inez Scott, Muriel Sinclair, one brother, Hollie R. Scott and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant grandson.

Ruey spent his entire life in Wayne County except from January 1 of this year when he and his wife moved to Russell.

He was united with the Bethlehem Methodist Church early in life. He lived a wholesome Christian life and was a devoted husband and father and will be greatly missed by his relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, July 26, 1956 at 2 p.m., at the Woodman Funeral Home by Rev. George Patterson. Interment was in the Russell Cemetery.

Pallbearers were, Floyd Hook, Lawrence Pray, Henry Teter, Odess Holt, Earl Krouse and Harold Powell. Two hymns, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Beautiful Garden of Prayer" were sung by Carl H. Wright and Quincy Robb, accompanied by Mrs. John Woodman. Mrs. Dorothy Fry and Mrs. Jack Moore assisted Mrs. Woodman with the flowers. [1]
