Biography

Emily Jean Scown, daughter of Ernest Albert Scown & Emily Packer, was born on 15 April 1921 in Bordertown, Wellington, South Australia, Australia. [1]

In 1942 Jean married Arthur William Milne. Their wedding was reported in the Border Chronicle (Bordertown, SA : 1908 - 1950), Fri 24 Apr 1942, Page 5 [2]

At Mundalla Church of Christ, on Saturday, April 11, the marriage was celebrated of Jean, daughter of Mr and Mrs E. A. Scown, of Cannawigara, to L/Cpl Arthur William, elder son of Mr and Mrs D. R. Milne, of Mundalla. Pastor W. A. Russell officiated, and the church was prettily decorated by Miss M. Henstridge.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of chalkwhite georgette, inlet with lace on bodice and sleeves, the long sleeves coming to a peak over the hands. Her tulle veil was held in place with orange blossom, and she carried a sheaf of white flowers.
Misses Shirley Scown and Dorothy Milne were bridesmaids, frocked ....[cont.]
