Biography
Sarah Jane Scratchley was born on 28 March 1830 [1] in Market Lavington, Wiltshire, England, the daughter of John Scratchley and Jane (Mead) Scratchley. She was baptised on 10 October 1830 in Market Lavington. [1] [2]
In 1851, Sarah (age about 21) was living in Market Lavington with her parents.[2]
When Sarah was about 22 she married Thomas Gauntlett Axford in 1852. The marriage was registered in Devizes, Wiltshire.[3]
In 1861 Sarah (age about 31) was living in West Lavington, Wiltshire. [4]
In 1871 Sarah (age about 41) was living in Littleton, Wiltshire, England. Relation to Head: Wife.[5]
In the 1881 census Sarah (age about 51) was living in West Lavington, Wiltshire, England. Marital Status: Married. Relationship to Head: Wife.[6]
Sarah died at the age of about 73 between September and December 1903 in Devizes, Wiltshire.[7]
