Biography

Frances was the fifth daughter of Esther (Brock) Scriven (1804-1869) and Samuel L Scriven (1803-1865). She was born in 1834, probably in Petersburg, New York.

After her sister Emily’s death, Frances married her brother-in-law, Edmond H Babcock, and became mother to the two children, Samurai D Babcock and Emma Babcock. Frances and Edmond had two children together: Edmond, known as Eddy Jay (1861-1882) and Esther Frances (Babcock) Lamphere (1863-1901).
