Hi Carol. I added a source: Headley, Robert K. Married Well and Often: Marriages of the Northern Neck of Virginia, 1649–1800. Baltimore, MD, USA: Genealogical Publishing Co., 2003. pg 110.

This lists the marriage of: Dodson, [Charles] & Scurlock, Mary; bef 28 Feb 1756; bride was a dau. of Thos. Scurlock (d. RC 1757) of NFP (RC WB 6:109; VG 29:108) Is this source not trustworthy? I'm new here, so I'm still learning.

There is more than one Charles Dodson. It is believed but not proven Mary married Charles Dodson who was the son on John Dodson. Charles Dodson III is the son of Charles Dodson Jr. Also, what does Mr. Headley list as the source for this marriage record - a county marriage record if so what volume and page number? Some of the published compilations of birth, marriage and death records have been put together from other published family sheets, DAR and SAR lineages, etc. and have not been compiled from existing church or county records.

This merge has been rejected. Mary Unknown-418680 does not appear to be the daughter of Thomas Scurlock. Thomas Scurlock's daughter Mary did marry a Dodson; however, the will of Thomas Scurlock does not give the name of Mary's husband only that her married name was Dodson. More research and documented sources are needed on Scurlock-79 before a merge should be completed. There are currently no sources listed for Mary Surlock-79.
