Martha Ann Shanks was born on 31 Mar 1814 in Shelby, Kentucky, her father, Samuel Shanks and her mother, Margaret Hawley. She married David Devoe Stratton on 21 Dec 1837 in Shelby, Kentucky. She died on 13 Nov 1888 in Washington, Indiana was buried in Trimble Cemetery, Orange County, Indiana.
