Biography

Nicholas Sharp has German Roots.

Nicholas Scherp / Sharp, son of Georg Emmerich Scherp and Anna Barbara Schmidt, was born on 29 December 1732 in Germantown, Columbia county, New York, and was baptised on 21 January 1733 at the Lutheran Church in Loonenburg, Greene, New York. [1]

Nicolaas Sharp wed Lena Hogeboom on 31 January 1767 in the Reformed Dutch Church of Albany, New York. [2]

They had the following known children together:

  1. Jacob, baptised 30 March 1767;
  2. Bartholomeus, born 1 April 1769, bp. 29 April 1769;
  3. Jurjen, bo. 7 December 1771, bp. 5 January 1772;
  4. Barbara, bo. 25 June 1776, bp. 21 July 1776;
  5. Margarita, bo. 9 April 1779, bp. 3 May 1779.

Nicholas died about 1802 probably in Greenbush, Rensselaer county, New York, and was buried probably at the Family Cemetery in Greenbush. [3]
