George was born about 1855 in South Australia, according to his marriage index entry. His parents are not recorded on his death certificate, but they should both be named on his 1880 Victorian marriage document.
He died 14th September 1943, at Cobram, aged 88.[1]

MR GEORGE SHARPE.
Mr George Sharpe, one of the oldest pioneers of Strathmorton district, Victoria, passed away on 14th September. He was aged 88 years. Mr. Sharpe went to that district from Horsham with his wife and young family over 50 years ago and had been closely identified with the development of the district over that long period. He worked his farm right up to the time of his death, which occurred at the residence of his daughter at Cobram.
A man of kindly nature and upright character, he was highly esteemed throughout the district.
He is survived by a family of four sons and five daughters — Messrs. G.H. Sharpe, Yielima; W. Sharpe, Casterton;I. Sharpe, Penola, S.A.; H. Sharpe, Shepparton; Mesdames W. J. Howells. Cobram; E, McDonald, N.Z.; D Keating, Yielima; A. A. Baldwin, Tocumwal; T. O'Reilly, Matong.[2]
