Research Notes

  • Prewitt has Jacob's birth about 1783. He was not born in Virginia. Most likely he was born in or around Hagerstown, MD. Wife Ann Ireland is also from Frederick County, MD. For more information, see Conrad Sheets (father).
  • In Grantee Index, S, 95-0005. Land purchases beginning in 1816.
  • 1860 US Federal Census lists birth place as Maryland. Nancy Ireland Sheets is listed as Maryland which I believe to be accurate. Maryland contradicts what is listed for sister Susannah (Jacob).
