Biography

US Black Heritage Project
George Shepard is a part of US Black heritage.

George was born about 1839. He is most likely the son of Pink Gamble. Pink's gender is as yet undetermined.

In 1856, John Swann Shepard's estate was divided. Some of the enslaved came from this plantation and some came from New Hope Plantation, Leon County, Florida. The paperwork did not state which plantation each came from. George was in the Lot No.4 that went to Mrs. Alice Gibbon. He was listed in a family group which included: Pink, 40, George age 17, and Nathan age 4.[1]
