Biography
Eli P Shepherd was the son of Michael Legrand Jr & Eliza A Shepherd. He married Amanda Black 3 Jan 1867 in Fayette Co., AL at the home of John Chin. Their children were; Elizabeth Belle, Emaline, Fannie, Alonzo & Barkly Shepherd.
Eli served in Co.C 26th Ala. Infantry.
He enlisted November 1, 1863 and present at Andersonville.
Admitted to Ocmulgee Hospital in Macon, Georgia on October 23, 1864 due to diarrhea. Transferred to Camp Wright to recover.
Surrendered as member of Company E, 1st Alabama Consolidated Regiment in Greensboro, North Carolina on April 26, 1865.
Filed for pension in Conway, Lamar County, Alabama on May 22, 1897. Died there June 25, 1907.
