Biography

Sarah, "Sally" Frances Sherman was born on 16 Feb.1926 at the Greenwich, Connecticut Hospital. Prior to her birth, her mom, Alice, called her "Pico." She was the daughter of Frederick William Sherman and Alice Brinley. With the marriage to Fred, they spent many days at the Oliver Wolcott Homestead in Litchfield, Conn. First, as a summer retreat and then, after inheriting from Mary Wolcott and paying back taxes and with the death of Frederick in 1929 at the homestead, Alice and Sally moved to Litchfield. Many summers were spent at the Incarnation Camp in Ivoryton, Conn. She married Michael Francis Tomaino. [1]

Michael was born on 15 March 1915; married Sarah on 22 November 1947 and died on 20 May 1996 in Pleasantville, NY.[2]

Sarah passed away on 11 May 2007 in Pleasantville, NY. Michael and Sarah had four children: Francesca, Louis, Frederick, and Sarah Brinley Tomaino. [3]

Sarah Frances Sherman and Michael Francis Tomaino had at her death 4 surviving children: Franesca Marianna DeMaio, Louis Sherman Tomaino, Frederick Standish Tomaino and Sarah Brinley Tomaino and 5 grand children: Lucia DeMaio-Ronis, Sophia DeMaio, Nicholas Tomaino, Alexander Tomaino and Michael Tomaino.[5] Sarah and Michael were buried at the East Cemetery, Litchfield, Conn. near the Bantam River and her parents. [6]
