Biography
Lafayette Sherwood was born about 1847. He was the son of Morgan and Lavina (Morgan) Sherwood of Dryden, Tompkins County, New York. [1]
Lafayette enlisted in Company U, 16th NY Heavy Artillery regiment on January 11, 1864.
He died March 25, 1864 in Virginia. He is buried in Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira, Chemung County, New York. [2]
