Biography

Nelson Shipman was born in Leeds, Ontario, 23 November 1809, the son of John Shipman and Fanny Whitmore.^[1]

He was married twice:

1. Sarah Mallory, the daughter of John Mallory; one child;
2. Nancy Purvis, the daughter of Peter Purvis. seven children.^[2][3][4]

The History of Leeds and Grenville describes Nelson, his father, and grandfather,^[5] and even contains a drawing of his house.^[6][7][8]

Nelson passed away in 1899.^[9]
