Francis was born in 1874. He was the son of Daniel Shonkwiler and Sara Noble. He passed away in 1957.
Dr. Shonkwiler Dies
Dr. Francis Marion Shonkwiler, 705 Neosho St., veteran Emporia physician died Sunday afternoon in Newman Memorial County Hospital. Dr. Shonkwiler, who had served as Lyon County physician for nearly 20 years, received a broken hip in a fall at his home early in the week.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the McVey Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Donald A. Kessler, pastor of the Grace Methodist Church. Graveside services at the Mausoleum in Maplewood Cemetery will be conducted by the Emporia Masonic Lodge.
Born May 2nd, 1874, in Rockville, Ind., the son of Daniel and Sarah Noble Shonkwiler, he was graduated from the Louisville (Ky.) Medical College in 1898. He was married to Gertrude Byrd, Dec. 24th, 1902, at Ladoga, Ind., and they moved to Emporia 30 years ago from El Dorado. Mrs. Shonkwiler died Sept. 15th, 1945.
Surviving are a son, R. E. Shonkwiler, Shelby, Mont.; three daughters, Mrs. T. L. Feely, Coral Gables, Fla., Mrs. Fenton Caldwell, Kansas City, Kan., and Mrs. E. L. Urquhart, 624 West St.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters. He was a member of the First Friends Church, the Emporia Masonic Lodge and the Lyon County Medical Society.

Funeral services for Dr. F M. Shonkwiler will be held Wednesday, 2:00 p. m., at the McVey Chapel. Burial will be in Mausoleum at Maplewood Cemetery. Masonic services will be held at the Mausoleum.
