Biography

Louis was born in 1904 in New York to Jewish-German immigrants. Louis Became an English professor at Fisk University, and was later Dean of the Library School at George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, TN.[1]

He married Geraldine Urist. They were living in Nashville, Tennessee, by 1940.[2]

When he passed away in 1981, he was buried in the Garden of the Last Supper, Tallahassee Memory Gardens, Tallahassee, Florida. His grave lies next to his wife's grave.[3] His tombstone is inscribed: Maj US Army World War II.
