Biography

Caroline C. Short, daughter of Jacob and Catherine Short, was born on 22 Nov. 1834 at Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.[1] She appeared on the census of 28 Aug. 1850 in the home of her brother at Plymouth, Richland County, Ohio. Her mother was in the home as well.[2]

She married Henry Gerhart Bechtel, son of John Y. Bechtel and Susanna (Gerhart) Bechtel, on 25 Aug. 1853 at Wooster, Wayne County, Ohio.[1]

She appeared on the census of 28 June 1905 in the home of her son at Minneapolis Ward 4, Hennepin County, Minnesota.[3]

Caroline died on 25 Feb. 1926 at Grand Junction, Mesa County, Colorado and was buried at Sunrise Cemetery, Wahoo, Saunders County, Nebraska. Her memorial has a photo of her headstone, biographical material and links to those of family members.[1]
