Memorial left on FAG: Ephraim Shuffield and Barbara Harris were married in Duplin Co., NC on 17 Oct. 1782 (His marriage and death date in Ephraim Shuffield's Rev. War pension. Also states they had 13 children and John was the oldest.) Edith Bivin was the only other DOCUMENTED child. Ephraim was the ancestor of all Shuffield/Sherfield in Todd Co.
Probability that Ephraim was buried in 1835 by his daughter Nancy (Shuffield) Lear and son-in-law George Lear on a family farm (William and Nell Lear farm cemetery). In 1991 estimated 30 unmarked graves and three tombstones with identification in this cemetery on private land.
Ephraim Lear was listed on the next farm over from Conrad Lear on the 1820 census of Todd Co. Their daughter and son married. These were poor people and the Lear's had no tombstones for three generations. Conrad Lear and Ephraim Shuffield applied for Revolutionary War pensions due to poverty. Ephraim died 3 years prior to Conrad Lear.
