In about 1862, he married Mary M. Fryer. Their son George's birthdate is uncertain. His grave stone gives a date almost exactly nine months after Aaron's death,[3] but he was named on his father's pension records.[4] His obituary says he was born 25 August 1863.[5]

On 1 July 1863, Aaron registered with the state of Pennsylvania in the US Civil War draft.[6] In May 1864, he mustered in as a Private into "C" Company, 184th Pennsylvania Infantry.[7][8]

Not long afterward, he was captured and taken to Andersonville Prison. He died there on 13 Oct 1864.[9][10][11]
