John Seidensberger was born on 8 Jan 1760 at (Broad Bay) Waldoboro, Lincoln Co., ME., and died on 1 June 1849 in Warren, Knox, ME. John married KATHERINE DEMUTH on 10 Sept 1784 in Waldoboro. Katherine was the daughter of JOHAN GEORGE DEMUTH and MARIA CATHERINE WELLER of Waldoboro.

John and Katherine settled in the western part of Warren, ME. John was a veteran of the Revolutionary War and served as a private in Lieut. Alexander Kellock's company for 1 month. This company was assigned to protect the Eastern part of Lincoln county and was stationed at Camden and St. George's from 13 Nov 1779 to 13 Feb 1780. (Joan Burgess Brown believes that John served several more short term enlistments). John and Katherine had 10 children:

1. Catherine Seidensberger, b. 3 Aug 1785 in Waldoboro, and d. 12 Sept 1815 Belfast, Waldo, ME. She married abt. 1897 Josiah Twitchell as his first wife.

2. John Seidensberger, b. 12 July 1788 in Waldoboro. He married abt. 1809 to Mary Gellerd the daughter of Thomas Gellerd. John served during the War of 1812.

3. Mary "Polly" Seidensberger* b 8 Dec 1790 Waldoboro.

4. Hannah Seidensberger, b. 15 Nov 1792 in Waldoboro and d. 6 April 1866 in Thomaston, Knox, ME. Hannah married William Stackpole on 30 July 1814 in Waldoboro.

5. George Seidensberger, b. 12 July 1794 in Waldoboro and d. July 1877 in Warren, Knox, ME., and was buried in Goshen Cemetery. George served in the War of 1812. He married Patience Pierce on 7 Nov 1818 in Belfast Waldo, ME.. She was the daughter of Capt. Ezekiel Pierce and Mary Hahn-Horn.

6. Margaret Seidensberger, b. 10 Sept 1796 in Waldoboro and d. 12 Dec 1830 in Burnham, Waldo Co., ME. She married Peter Martin Mink on 6 May 1814 in Waldoboro. He was he son of Johan Paul Mink and Elizabeth Gross.

7. Elizabeth Seidensberger, b. 28 Aug 1798 in Waldoboro. She md 10 April 1815 William Newcomb in Warren, Knox Co., ME. William was the son of Silas Newcomb and Azubah Crowell. They resided in Burnham, Waldo Co., ME. ["Broadbay...." indicates William's parents were Jonathan Newcomb & Elizabeth Copeland which according to Joan Burgess Brown, a descendant of William's brother Jedidiah Newcomb, is incorrect. 8. Susan Seidensberger, b. 21 Jan 1805 in Waldoboro. She married Cornelius Creamer on 10 July 1822 in Warren , Knox Co., ME. Cornelius was the son of John Creamer and Margaret Siders

9. Jacob Seidensberger, b. 21 Jan 1805 in Waldoboro and d. July 1877 in Warren, Knox Co., ME. and was buried in Goshen Cemetery. He married Belinda Shuman on 8 Mar 1832 in Waldoboro. She was the daughter of John Schuman.

10. Almira Seidensberger, b. 16 Jan 1809 in Waldoboro and d. 28 May 1843 in Belfast, Waldo, ME.

John and Katherine had 10 children, Three sons and seven daughters. Two of their daughters were married to Josiah Twitchell. Catherine married him first and died in 1815. Mary, her younger sister was married to Jedidiah Newcomb who died in 1818. She m. Josiah about 1821 after the death of his second wife Comfort Pierce.

He was in the Revolutionary War as a pvt in Lieut Alexander Kellock's Co and served 1 month. His company was to protect the Eastern part of Lincoln county and was stationed at Camden and St. George's from 13 Nov 1779 to 13 Feb 1780. It is said that he signed up for several more short term enlistments
