On 7 Jul 1870 at the time of the 1870 US Census, head of household Ruth Simmers (age 68, born in PA) was living on real estate valued at $2,000 in Rush Township, Tuscawaras County, Ohio with Joseph Simmers (age 45, born in OH), Joshua Simmers (age 40, born in OH), Daniel Simmers (age 35, born in OH), and Noah Simmers (age 28, born in OH). Ruth Simmers was listed as "Insane" and unable to read nor write. [1]
