Maud Ann Simpson was born in Millsap, Parker County, New Mexico. She moved with her family to New Mexico Territory in January 1901. She was married 3 November 1904 in Tucumcari, New Mexico Territory to James Robert Daughtry. They had two sons born in Tucumcari before moving to Roswell, where their daughter Ruth was born about 1914.
