Biography

Luther J Skellenger was born about 1820 in Genoa, Cayuga, New York, United States, son of Luther Sylvester Skellenger (1772–~1843) and Lydia Smith (1782–~1860).[1]

In 1820, Luther was living in Genoa, Cayuga, New York. [1]

Luther (34) married Romenta Pasco (21) (born in 1833 in Liberty Township, Delaware, Ohio, United States; daughter of Asa Pomeroy Pasco and Sarah (Sally) Pasco) on January 10, 1855 in Ottumwa, Wapello.[2]

Their children were:

In the 1870 census Luther (age 51) was the head of household in Luzerne, Benton, Iowa, United States.[3]

In the 1880 census Luther (age 62), Farmer, was the married head of household in Ottumwa, Wapello, Iowa, United States.[4]

Luther died on November 23, 1893 in Ottumwa, Wapello, Iowa, United States, aged about 72. He was buried in Ottumwa Cemetery, Ottumwa, Iowa.

Luther Skellenger Obituary[5]

Luther J. Skellenger, aged 73 year., died at the home of his son-in-law, Charles Bailey, in Eldon, at 12 o'clock Wednesday night. The remains were brought to this city last night, and taken to the home of W. T. Miller, 412 Woodland avenue, where the funeral %ill be held Saturday afternoon at 12 o'clock, knd the remains will be Interred In the Ottumwa cemetery. The deceased was a well-known and esteemed citizen of Wapello county, and had lived here since 1872.
