Charles was born about 1849.
There are two death records that may have been for the couple in these records:
Caroline Smith, hatmaker died 18 Oct 1915 of "tumor" in the Western District Of Eleuthera, Bahamas at age 61 in which case she would have been born about 1854.
Caroline's death was followed 22 days later by the death of a man who may have been her husband. That man, Charles Smith, planter died on 10 Nov 1915 in Western District Of Eleuthera, Bahamas of a stroke at the age of 69 in which case he would have been born about 1846.
7 Feb 1868: His marriage record lists him as Charles W. Smith, farmer and bachelor at the time he marries Caroline Nealy at the Wesleyan Mission House in Nassau. The record states they both lived in Nassau and were both of full age. Samuel (A?H?K?) Nearly witnessed.
The death records of his son Edwin list his name as Edwin C Smith born Nassau, NP married to Carioline Nelly of Nassau N. P., Bahamas.
Nonetheless, the birth records for all of his children and his marriage record list him as Charles W. Smith. All of the children were born at Bluff , Current or Current Island
Birth records for the children of Edwin and Caroline record their children as being born in the district of Western Eleuthera which includes Current, Current Island and the Bluff Settlement. They probably lived in The Bluff Settlement. Why? A 1906 Immigration record for Chas W Smith, MM Laborer, age 28, b 1878 states that he is from Bluff, Bahamas. He goes to Key West, Monroe, Florida, United States to join wife Elizabeth Smith via the SS Olivette
