Biography

Harry Smith was born around 1871 in Canada to parents Thomas E. Smith and Annetta (Rounds) Smith.

Harry was a 10 year old student when recorded by the 1881 Canadian census. He lived in Oxford East, Oxford South, Ontario with parents Thomas E. (age 40) and Annetta (age 32) and siblings Elizabeth (age 9), Nettie (age 6), and Charles (age 2). The family religion is listed at Meth. C.C.

He and his family later moved to Michigan in the United States.

He married Jennie C. Denton on December 15, 1898 in Marlette, Sanilac County, Michigan. Both were 27 years old and lived in Moore Township in Sanilac County, Michigan. Harry was a farmer at the time.[1]

The 1900 United States census found 29 year old Harry working as a farmer in Moore Township in Sanilac County, Michigan. He lived with his wife Jennie E. (age 27).

Harry was a 39 year old sawmill foreman during the 1910 United States census. He lived with his family in Moore Township, Sanilac County, Michigan. Also in the household was his wife of eleven years Jennie (age 38) and children Harold (age 6) and Russell (age 1 1/2).
