Biography

George Elroy Newton Smith was the son of George Washington Smith and Mary Magdalene Smith. He was born in May 1879 in the present day area of Union Grove, Caldwell County, North Carolina. His grandparents were George Adam Smith and Jemima Bean Smith.

In the 1880 census, George E. Smith (age 1) was the grandson of Adam Smith in Lovelady, Caldwell County, North Carolina, United States.^{[1] [2]}

George E. Smith was inadvertantly listed in 2 households in the 1900 census, appearing in the household of his uncle Joseph C. Smith and the household of his mother Mary M. Smith.

This includes the descendants of Richard Swann Bean (aka Richard “Dickey” Bean) and Walter Thomas Bean of Old Burke County, NC (which includes present day Caldwell County, NC), who were the ancestors of Jemima Bean Smith.
